Group Updates

Dickerson and TASC have an exciting new offer for you and your groups! Effective immediately, when your clients purchase a suite of TASC’s bundled services through Dickerson, they will receive a 15% discount.

They can choose from several combinations of compliance/administration services for ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA and FSAs.

Aflac
We at Dickerson are happy to announce our new partnership with Aflac! Together, we’ll work with you to gain business and help your groups receive high-quality coverage.

The demand for voluntary benefits is steadily increasing. By offering Aflac’s extensive portfolio, you can keep your clients happy by meeting this growing demand at no extra cost to them. Their portfolio includes voluntary dental, vision, life, short-term disability, accident, critical illness and hospital coverage. Your groups’ employees can purchase voluntary benefits in standalone form if they wish, OR choose a specialty voluntary policy like Hospital Advantage or the Aflac Plus Rider.

The average hospital stay in the US is $10,000. Most people don’t have the resources to pay for an out-of-pocket expense like this. That’s where Hospital Advantage comes in. Under this policy, Aflac offers one low rate for all ages, guaranteed-renewable options and benefits of up to $3,000. Instead of reacting to unexpected health crises, encourage your groups to plan for these scenarios with Aflac’s Hospital Advantage.

The Aflac Plus Rider, on the other hand, boosts existing benefits and provides an added layer of protection. For about 75¢ per week, employees receive guaranteed-issue coverage for expenses related to any serious accident or illness. Covered illnesses include heart attacks, diabetes, brain injury, advanced Alzheimer’s, advanced Parkinson’s and more. Cash benefits range from $1,250 to $5,000, depending on the tier of coverage that is selected.

Anthem Blue Cross

Starting with 7/1/17 effective dates, Anthem's STD and LTD coverage is now available to group of 2-9 employees! If you would like to quote these particular plans, talk to your Dickerson Account Executive. Remember, Anthem does not require DE9C submissions on specialty only sales. This is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of Anthem's exclusive offerings.


Anthem has made an adjustment to its high deductible plans that are to be paired with HSAs. To be a qualified high deductible health benefit plan, most covered services must apply to the deductible. As a result, the in-network chiropractic benefit and the in-network enhanced infertility rider are subject to the deductible and out-of-pocket maximum for the following plans, retroactive to January 1, 2017.
Listed below are the Anthem plans affected by these changes:

  • Anthem Silver PPO 2000/20%/5400 w/HSA – RxC and Anthem Silver Select PPO 2000/20%/5400 w/HSA - RxC
  • Anthem Bronze PPO 5000/35%/6550 w/HSA and Anthem Bronze Select PPO 5000/35%/6550 w/HSA
  • Anthem Bronze PPO 6500/0%/6500 w/HSA and Anthem Bronze Select PPO 6500/0%/6500 w/HSA (Chiropractic benefit is not impacted on this plan; correction only applies to enhanced infertility when the infertility rider is attached.)
  • Anthem Bronze Select PPO 4800/40%/6550 w/HSA

Covered California (Individual and CCSB)

To keep up with agents’ demands, Covered California is gearing up to roll out a California Healthcare Eligibility, Enrollment and Retention System (CalHEERS) Agency Portal!

This new portal will include a new “Agency Manager” feature, allowing for more agency oversight and easier accessibility for brokers. Every agent will now be categorized under an associated agency. This includes independent agents, who will be listed as an “Agency of One.”

Also, keep an eye out for the new “Agency” and “Non-Monetary” Agreements, which must be signed to keep up with the new portal’s advancements:

  • The Agency Agreement must be filled out by individual agents and managers of agencies responsible for submitting business to Covered California. Agencies with 2 or more agents who write business under the same Tax ID must select an Agency Manager. The agent selected will oversee all business carried out by brokers in their agency. Agency Managers must be certified and licensed insurance agents.
  • The Non-Monetary Agreement is to be signed by agents employed by an agency. This is a standard agreement designed to ensure they meet their contractual obligations with Covered California.

Health Net
Dickerson has good news for brokers with large groups of 101+ employees! Effective, 7/1/17, Health Net’s SmartCare Network has expanded into Placer County in Northern California. This expansion, along with Health Net’s underwriting promotions, will provide you with excellent selling points just in time for open enrollment season!


SmartCare is a popular whole health solution that combines a large, tailored network, a large benefits portfolio and health incentives to provide members with a holistic care plan. It offers a mixture of coinsurance and copayment designs and can be offered alongside other Health Net plans. SmartCare includes acupuncture and chiropractic benefits, and allows employers to add Health Net’s large network of affordable dental and vision services.

Molina
Welcome to the future… Molina’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Payment Processing system is now available for use! California Molina members can simply call (888) 858-2150 and follow the spoken instructions to make premium payments. If your clients normally pay online through the Molina Payment page, this would be a quicker and easier alternative for them. As a reminder, your clients can also pay via:

  • Bill Pay: Have you client log in to their bank’s website to use the “Bill Pay” option. Their subscriber ID number on their Molina ID card can be used as the account number.
  • Pay By Phone: Members can call Member Services at the number printed on their ID cards
  • Pay By Mail: Clients can send payments via check, money order or MoneyGram with the coupon at the bottom of the client’s invoice to:
