Blue Shield is currently negotiating with Community Medical Centers (CMC) to reach an agreement that would support keeping healthcare costs affordable.

Terminating facility/hospitals within CMC are Clovis Community Hospital, Community Regional Medical Center, and Fresno Heart and Surgical Hospital.

If an agreement is not reached, CMC facilities will not be in-network for Blue Shield of California members beginning February 1, 2026.

Blue Shield of California has a strong provider network in Fresno County and alternative in-network hospitals including St. Agnes Medical Center and Valley Children’s Hospital.

CMC has an affiliated medical group, Community Health Partners, who serve a select group of Blue Shield PPO members. If CMC terminates their contract with Blue Shield, these members would be charged out of network rates with this group.

Impacted members include commercial HMO and PPO members who have received care in the last 12-months at a CMC facility and/or DMHC PPO members who live within a 15-mile radius of a CMC facility.
