Impacted brokers will receive an email communication about the withdrawal of three Dental PPO plans from Blue Shield's specialty portfolio beginning January 1, 2025. We are encouraging brokers to move their clients early to help ensure a smooth renewal. Health Net has released criteria for Weight Loss Drugs and require prior approval based on their drug use guidelines. For approval, Health Net Medical Necessity criteria must be met based on: • BMI (Body Mass Index) • Documentation of member’s baseline and current height and body weight within the last 30 days • Other medical issues • Documentation supporting member’s participation in a Health Net approved weight loss program (e.g., Weight Watchers) or other weight loss programs recommended by the prescriber that involves: o a reduced calorie diet o increased physical activity and o behavioral modification. To request prior authorization, the prescriber must complete and fax a Prior Authorization form (PDF) to 866-399-0929. Humana has shared that they are enhancing their 5-49 Small Group Bundling Bonus by doubling the payout for a disability sale, increasing the line bonus from $200 to $400. Kaiser Permanente has shared that they will have a new bonus for Q4: For all new small groups with effective dates between October 2024 through January 2025, a broker can earn a $100 bonus per enrolled member with a minimum of 10 members (per group) sold through direct, GAs, and the exchanges. (By Kaiser Permanente) When temperatures get uncomfortably high, you and your loved ones face an increased risk for heat-related illness. Fortunately, there are several tips you can use to help keep yourself cool and healthy during an intense heat wave. Symptoms to look out for The first step is to empower yourself by learning about how to spot a serious heat-related illness. By identifying heat reactions quickly, you’ll be better able to treat yourself and your loved ones. Heat exhaustion: Symptoms include fatigue, headache, confusion, dizziness, cramping, and nausea. Heatstroke : Symptoms include severe headache, rapid heartbeat, rapid/shallow breathing, seizures, vomiting, unconsciousness, and skin that is flushed, hot, and dry. If you develop heatstroke symptoms, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. While these conditions would be serious for anyone, older adults, small children, and people with certain medical conditions are especially vulnerable. To Read More, Click Here
